Fab Weld Apprentice

Brief Overview:  You will be fabricating and TIG Welding strut braces from pre made jigs following CAD Drawings. Once fabrication of strut braces has been mastered you then will be able to start to bring in the fabrication and welding of stainless steel exhaust systems.
Wage:  £172.00
Working Hours:  Monday-Friday 8AM - 4.30PM. Saturday 8AM-12PM. Mandatory to work Saturdays for customers who can not come in during the week working day hours.

Level 2 Engineering Operative - Fabrication and Welding:

  • The role covers a wide range of common and job specific skills sets that can be transferred across the manufacturing engineering industry sectors during the course of their careers. Dependent on the sector that they are employed in there may be subtle differences in terms of composition and application of the job role specific skills and knowledge they will require, however the core skills and knowledge will be the same regardless of the sector/area they work in
  • Depending on your job role, you will study a variety of units in Level 2 diploma/certificate in practical skills and off the job technical certificate
  • The apprentice will have a depth and breadth of English and Mathematics that allow them to operate successfully within their role. This may be met through entry criteria determined by the employer or qualifications and training within the apprenticeship. However, on completion all apprentices will have minimum Level 1 qualifications in English and Mathematics

Apprentice Materials Testing Technician

Brief Overview: During the construction of large civil engineering projects, many different types of materials are used. These materials must be tested so that the engineers can have confidence that the finished project will work as the project designers intended. Over the course of the apprenticeship, you will learn the skills required to test these materials.  
Wage:  £12,000.00 - £14,000.00 per year.
Working Hours: The normal working week is 8am – 4.30pm (8 hours per day with 30-minute break). Some paid overtime work will be expected during busy periods.

Total hours per week: 40.00

Location: Whitwood Annexe, Lumley Street, Castleford, WF10 5LB.

  • Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship Standard
  • Level 3 NVQ in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities

Where required:

  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English and/or maths
