Painter & Decorator Apprentice

Job Description:  
  • Measuring surface areas to work out what materials are required to complete the job
  • Stripping off existing wallpaper or paint
  • Preparing surfaces with primer or undercoat
  • Applying layers of paint and / or hanging wallpaper
  • Keeping the work area clean and tidy

  • Personable, clean and tidy appearance
  • Able to follow instructions and work well with others in a team
  • Punctuality is a necessity
  • Reliability and honesty and a willingness to learn
  • Must disclose any CCJs and criminal records and any health, disabilities and phobia problems
Desired Qualifications:  Although there are no minimum requirements for this role, you will have to undertake a significant amount of written work and calculations and so will be required to undertake a test to ensure that you are capable. Special Educational Needs can be supported. 
Things to Consider:  Part of the work will be outdoors overtime and weekend working, working at night or working away including unsocial hours may be needed at times.

Additional Information:  

All assessment and tuition to be conducted by Leeds College of Building (Leeds). Painting and Decorating is a day release course and so you will need to attend the North St Campus for 1 day per week (day to be confirmed)

Currently the college is closed due to covid and all tuition is being conducted on Microsoft Teams but this is not expected to be a long-term issue and all practical courses will return to college as soon as possible. 

We are a small firm of Painters and Decorators who undertake all elements of decorating works. Commercial, industrial and residential buildings including estates of new build houses
