Job Description:  

Reporting to the Metal Team Leader, this role is responsible for the effective and efficient processing of raw materials through the Metal Cutting department and the picking / monitoring of raw material stock utilized in Assembly, whilst ensuring a quality product is made using company procedures & working within the company core values and all ensuring all duties are carried out safely.

  • Assist and carry out (after training) with the cutting of metal work in an accurate and efficient manner whilst following the production schedule and always ensuring a high-quality product is made at all times
  • Transport / handle metal parts and raw material between processes and departments as required using the equipment and PPE provided ensuring any damages are reported to the Metal Team Leader
  • When required pick stock from the Unit 3 warehouse following the picking list and pack so it can be dispatched to the customer or transported to production
  • Carry out daily cleaning and preventative maintenance on the machinery in accordance with procedures highlighting any issues with the Team Leader
  • Always ensure that safe working practices are followed at all times and that all PPE supplied is worn when required
  • Maintain a good standard of housekeeping within any area in the factory including area surrounding the workstation
  • Assist and carry out the picking of stock from the warehouse when required ensuring all parts and products get taken to the correct locations
  • Maintain a good standard of time keeping and punctuality at all times
  • Always maintain a good standard of appearance and personal hygiene when at work due to customers, suppliers & visitors attending site on a regular basis
  • Communicate any issues with work immediately to the Production Supervisor including quality, time keeping, lack of understanding and training requirements
  • Ensure the core values of Global Doors are followed at all times and this is exhibited by the whole manufacturing team
  • Any other ad-hoc duties considered reasonable, as requested by a Supervisor or Manager
  • The above duties, albeit being quite specific, are not all exhaustive and there may be times when other requirements are expected to carry out the role of Metal Cutting / Warehouse Operative to the expectations of the Company

Desired Qualifications:  GCSE maths and English grades 9-4 / A*-C or equivalent or willing to work towards.
Things to Consider:  

Whilst this role will focus on 1 main department the apprentice will be trained on all manufacturing areas of the business to gain a good understanding of the whole process.

This role will require lifting and standing for long periods.

Salary: Depending on the candidate age and experience salary will be National Minimum wages for apprenticeships £4.30-£5.50 an hour.

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
