Early Years Apprentice

Job Description:  

This is an interesting opportunity offering the chance to:

  • Engage in learning and play activities with 2 – 5 year olds and to enhance your communication and interactive skills with this age group.
  • Develop your knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum while learning and developing your practical experience of working in a setting.  
  • Gain experience working as part of a team of qualified EYFS professionals and receiving on the job training.
  • You will be working within a busy nursery setting undertaking all general day to day duties as required and contributing to a high standard of quality within the nursery.
  • You will be supporting other staff in tending the children, facilitating activities and providing support where ever necessary.
  • You will be expected to engage with the children and ensure each child receives the best care and support possible. 
  • You will be required to maintain a positive attitude at all times with children, parents, colleagues and visitors.
  • Appropriate induction and training will be given to help support you to fulfil this role.
  • Regular supervisions allow us to plan effective times to plan for CPD and to discuss performance.

  • Excellent communication skills-with both children and adults
  • Patience, enthusiasm and humour
Desired Qualifications:  GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade C or above (4+) but not essential as Functional Skills can be done. 
Things to Consider:  All staff are expected to have an enhanced DBS check and be placed on the update service. All previous convictions must be disclosed upon application and any failure to disclose aby reason that you may be unsuitable to work with children may mean legal action is taken against you. References will also be required to check suitability.
