Painter & Decorator Apprentice

Brief Overview:  Apprenticeship to train in all aspects of decorating works to a high level of skill. For the right person, there is the opportunity to secure full time employment and progress to higher level qualifications.
Wage:  £167.70
Working Hours:  39hrs between Monday to Thursday: 7.00am to 4.00pm, Friday: 7.00am to 3.00pm. Details to be confirmed.

  • Level 2 - Painter and Decorator Apprenticeship Standard
  • Functional Skills if required 

All assessment and tuition to be conducted by Leeds College of Building (Leeds). Painting and Decorating is a day release course and so you will need to attend the North St Campus for 1 day per week (day to be confirmed)

Currently the college is closed due to covid and all tuition is being conducted on Microsoft Teams but this is not expected to be a long-term issue and all practical courses will return to college as soon as possible.

Apprenticeship in Kitchen Installation: Pontefract / Hull (Level 2 Fitted Furniture)

Brief Overview:  Wickes launched it's unique Installation Apprenticeship scheme in 2020. We’re looking to recruit new colleagues on an 18 month contract to complete a Fitted Furniture Installer Level 2 Apprenticeship. The apprenticeship will offer the successful individuals a nationally recognised qualification, as well as great future career prospects.
Wage:  £10,000.00 per year.
Working Hours:  Monday to Friday, with 1 hour lunch break. Hours can vary day to day, but total to 40 hours per week. 20% of the apprentices time is spent on “off-the-job” training, some of which will be completed on ‘block release’ training courses.

Working Towards:

We’re looking to recruit new colleagues on an 18 month contract to complete a Fitted Furniture Installer Level 2 Apprenticeship.

The apprentice will also spend 20% of their time at “off-the-job” training, some of which will be completed on ‘block release’. Off the job training hours are collated throughout the duration of the course with 18 hours per month on average to cover the courses 20% requirement. 

The block release training is with our training provider Webs Training in Nottingham

Apprentice Materials Testing Technician

Brief Overview: During the construction of large civil engineering projects, many different types of materials are used. These materials must be tested so that the engineers can have confidence that the finished project will work as the project designers intended. Over the course of the apprenticeship, you will learn the skills required to test these materials.  
Wage:  £12,000.00 - £14,000.00 per year.
Working Hours: The normal working week is 8am – 4.30pm (8 hours per day with 30-minute break). Some paid overtime work will be expected during busy periods.
